DAILY PAINTING: Lots of work done today (I'm exhausted!), but happy with the results. As you can see, I've finished cutting the stencils--thank God!--and I've attached them to their respective paintings.
Vellum is a type of tracing paper, which makes it difficult for you to see the gauzy film of the stencil applied to the paintings. Even these relative close ups don't help.
At any rate, I attached the stencils to the canvas using cold wax, which I brushed onto the reverse side of the stencil. Cold wax is a wonderful medium that you can use with oil paint, either for collage purposes or for actual painting. The wax will hold the stencil in place so that I can paint over it. Then I can just peel the stencil off without the risk of damaging the canvas or the paint surface.
